Food Scanner
Photograph a meal and get an estimate of its calories, protein, carbohydrate and fat. This is an AI estimate, not a laboratory measurement — independent testing of photo-based calorie apps has found they commonly undercount by 20 percent or more, because cooking oil and sauce are invisible in a picture. Use it as a rough guide, not a precise number.

How accurate is it?
Be sceptical of any app that claims precision here. Published testing of commercial photo-based calorie trackers has repeatedly found systematic undercounting, and the errors are largest for the foods that matter most: fried dishes, dressings, sauces and anything with hidden oil.
Where photo estimation does work well is consistency. If you eat broadly similar meals, the estimates are useful for comparing one day against another even when the absolute number is off.
What happens to your photo?
- The image is sent to a vision model to be analysed, then discarded. It is not stored.
- Nothing is uploaded to any database — there is no database.
- Meals you log are saved only in your own browser using local storage. Clearing your browser data deletes them permanently.
- You do not need an account, and there is nothing to sign in to.
How to get a better estimate
- Shoot from directly above at roughly arm's length, in daylight if possible.
- Include something for scale — a fork, a coin or the edge of the plate.
- Photograph the whole plate in one frame rather than cropping in.
- If it was fried or dressed, mentally add 100 to 200 kcal to whatever the estimate says.
